The end twist with Sarah Paulson in the restaurant I loved too. Split will open in the US on January 20 and while the Shyamalan name has lost its lustre in recent years although his 2015 found-footage horror movie The Visit was a quiet success, grossing. On screen it does admittedly come off a bit goofy. In a comic book that would work brilliantly. On paper it works poetically, for all this man’s power he gets taken out by the tiniest amount of his one weakness.
The part where David Dunn dies by by being drowned in a puddle is for me very much like the Martha moment in BvS. So the movie sets up a big showdown at the newly built skyscraper, a big actual superhero/supervillain ending, to then subvert all that and have the characters get subdued and taken out quickly and easily.
